A Message from Jim Milligan Regarding Kids, the Inner City, and BLB

Posted on December 5, 2017 Posted by nicksteward

We would like to introduce two of our faithful Blue Letter Bible supporters, Amy and Chad Thompson, from central Illinois. They have been serving in children’s ministries for over 20 years, and are currently working with the first through sixth graders in their church. They also work with inner city kids in an outreach ministry called “Children of God.”

About eight years ago, Chad discovered Blue Letter Bible while searching online for “free” Bible resources to assist him as a Sunday School teacher. The Thompson family of five got excited and began using many of the BLB study tools. Amy uses it to write children’s devotional literature, the oldest Thompson child (who has reading challenges) uses the listening function on the BLB app to do his daily devotions, while the youngest child (who doesn’t read well) is also able to learn from God’s Word.

Jesus encouraged the little children to come to Him, and the Thompsons are faithfully discipling these young ones to do just that. Amy said,

One day it dawned on us that both the church kids and inner city kids don’t bring Bibles to church, and they don’t know how to use the paper Bibles…but they always have their cell phones with them.

So Chad and Amy began showing their students how to use the free BLB mobile app and installing it on their phones. This proved to be a huge success. The children have learned how to do word searches, find Bible verses, and read different translations to help them better understand God’s Word. They now enjoy filling in worksheets with the Books of the Bible, and completing devotional papers for the Wednesday night meetings, all with the assistance of the BLB mobile app. Amy said,

It really is God’s Word that changes the kids! There are so many personal victory stories, and it’s wonderful to watch these kids being transformed through personal discipleship and being in God’s Word. There is no greater joy than to see God working in young lives and the continual growth we see in so many of our precious children.

It is Chad and Amy’s hope that other churches will begin to use the Blue Letter Bible mobile app to reach the next generation. We are grateful for the Thompsons’ testimony and how, in this digital age, they want to encourage other ministries to help children get excited about studying the Word of God.

One of the reasons BLB exists is to combat Bible illiteracy, and to strengthen and equip God’s people through His Word. We have a passion for His Word and for helping people like you who share that passion. All we do is made possible through the Lord’s guidance and the many partners, like you, He has led to support BLB.

We humbly ask you to prayerfully consider a gift today, and should God lead you to do so, we thank you in advance for your generosity. Your partnership is making a difference!

May God and His Word be exalted,

Jim Milligan

Chief Executive Officer

P.S. You can make a difference for eternity by supporting the work of BLB and its mission to make God’s Word and in-depth study tools freely available to millions of people worldwide who have a desire to know His Word, and therefore Him, better.
