Rejoice, you poor in spirit!

Posted on January 7, 2013 Posted by Blue Letter Bible

The following is taken from the Blue Letter Bible Promise of the Day, updated every day of the year. Have you picked your reading plan or daily devotional for the year? Find out which are available at the BLB.

“O ye sons of men, how long will ye turn my glory into shame?
how long will ye love vanity, and seek after leasing? Selah.
But know that the LORD hath set apart him that is godly for himself:
the LORD will hear when I call unto him.”

Psalm 4:2-3

Rejoice, you poor in spirit! The Lord is ever your protector! The High King of Heaven cares for His people. Trust in His longing to do good for His children. He is faithful. He is good. He is loving. And in the end, even His children who suffer earthly poverty shall be blessed with all the riches the heavenly throne affords!

    Amen Chris!

God “is” good ALL the time!

While Jesus taught the people during His sermon on the mount He said, in Matthew 5:3, “God blesses those who are poor and realize their need for him, for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs.”

In my Christian walk I have often thought on this verse as well as the other beatitudes. This one in particular is intresting to me because when I think about who our God is and His amazing vastness and extreme ALL might power I am at first greatly humbled and stand in sheer reverence of Him.

There is so much of Him! Having a mind-set and revelation that we are in GREAT need of His love and presence each day is a very good place to be in.

Question: Who does God dwell with and look upon?

Answer: For thus says the High and Lofty One Who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy: “I dwell in the high and holy place, With him who has a contrite and humble spirit, To revive the spirit of the humble, And to revive the heart of the contrite ones. Isa 57:15

He dwells us who are poor in spirit and have GREAT need of His love, His grace, His peace, His Son Jesus and the salvation atonement He has given us.

To further answer this question our God writes to us through His Prophet Isaiah and “Says the LORD. “But on this one will I look: On him who is poor and of a contrite spirit, And who trembles at My word. ”

We need to be contrite before Him who first loved us and gave us His son as a sacrifice for our sins. We need to revere His word whether it comes through the verses in the Bible or through our Pastors and Teachers who bring the word of God to life as they preach and teach.

I love how our brother David, the Psalmist and friend of God wrote it as he described his attitude of GREAT need before our LORD, “One thing I have desired of the LORD, That will I seek: That I may dwell in the house of the LORD All the days of my life, To behold the beauty of the LORD, And to inquire in His temple.”

God bless you Chris and those who are poor in spirit!

    AGAPE,
    AndyBob

    All means All right?

    All mean 99 or 100%?

So we should put up with our Loving Brothers and Sisters when they say God KILLS, that’s not Loving now is it?

Put the blame where is counts, it’s called the god of this world, the Devil,

    Again, ALL means ALL.

If God said it, that should settle it. Wow, Love your Brother and Sisters by helping them see the truth.
