January 2, 2013 at 10:31 amThank you so much for all of the options for quiet time with the Lord! This is my first year using one of your many reading plans – I’ve chosen the chronological plan.
Looking forward to the newness of starting afresh in God’s Word again, as the adventure of being His child continues!
May all of the servants there at BLB have a glorious New Year, and may the Lord bless BLB with a fruitful year of ministry!

January 2, 2013 at 2:03 pmGod put the books of the Bible in the order He did for a reason. Although it may be boring to get through Leviticus, I recommend reading the Bible from Genesis through Revelation so you can see God’s plans for the heaven and the earth unfolded before you in the order God intneded for you to read His progressive revelation in.

January 3, 2013 at 10:58 amEric, thank you for sharing your view. I have read the Bible through before, and have prayerfully chosen this chronological plan for 2013. I’m quite sure the messages of Scripture won’t be lost because of the order of the books. I’m excited about all of my readings, and expect to learn great things this year as in any past year when I read the Bible “front to back”.
May God bless us both in our reading of His precious Word this year!

January 3, 2013 at 5:26 pmYes, whatever order you read the Bible in, the main thing is to read it and believe it, and you will be edified. God bless!

January 5, 2013 at 9:44 amRightly Divided of course, sometimes we apply and believe something from the Word and wonder why we get undesired results.
Is it because I’m applying something that is contrary to the Word with out knowing it? Or
Is it because I’m twisting it to fit my bad habit? Or
Maybe the undesired results is coming from the way I’ve been taught my whole life, maybe that idea of the Word has been wrong the whole time?
What ever we apply according to the Word of God, it’s got to be the Word of God, if something is slightly off, we no longer have the Word of God.
How do we read the Bible and understand it to the fullest and in doing so, have confidence applying the Word. The Word, not my opinion?
II Tim.2:15 Study
#1 Study — not only read it, but study. How?
#2 to show yourself
#3 approved unto God, not man’s opinion
#4 a workmen — workman of man’s opinion or a workman of God’s Word? Your a workmen of God’s Word,
#5 that — the purpose of a workmen
— being approved unto God
— to show thyself
— when you study HIS word
#6 needeth not to be ashamed — so it must be available to be ashamed, if God here in this verse is teaching us the importance of studying His Word. So how do we study as a workmen of His Word and not be ashamed? Rightly-dividing it!
#7 Rightly-Divide — What’s rightly-dividing the word mean? rightly-cutting it. How do I rightly-cut it?
Well for example, let’s take this word rightly dividing, study it front wards and backwards from the verse your looking at, in this case II Tim.2:15. Get into the greek word, understand the greek word to it’s fullest by going to every spot where it was used in the bible. Then understand the contexts where it was used, use other studies on the subject with the understanding how they got to an understanding, doesn’t mean they rightly divided the word does it? So be sharp on that. Again understand the greek word, then reread it in context, it’s amazing to see, there are so many believers that wrongly divide the Word.
So if it’s available to be ashamed, what do I have to do as a believer to be ashamed? Wrongly divide the Word of God. It must be available if God is teaching us here not to be ashamed.
See the verse answers the questions you may ask about rightly dividing the Word. Now next.
#8 the Word of Truth — Wow, the Word of Truth, not outside the Word, it’s the Word, the Word, the Word. So it must be available to rightly divide something else or someones logic, God is teaching us right in this verse how the rightly divide.
Anyway, this was on my heart this morning when I read Eric’s comment on reading the Word.
Have fun studying God’s Great Word, but we HAVE to rightly divide it, so when we go to apply it, we get the desired results, and we get the Truth understanding of God, and we get to Speak God’s Word with Simplicity instead of having confusion with in our speech. If there’s something that is confusing to you, all that means is, keep studying God’s Word more until you get that understanding. Sometimes it may take 15 years of studying God’s Word before you or anyone can understand it and it then will fit with the entire Word. If it doesn’t fit, don’t teach it.
God Bless
