Abiding in Christ

Posted on February 8, 2012 Posted by Blue Letter Bible

There are at least five fruits of abiding in Christ:

Spiritual Fruitfulness

“I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.” – John 15:5

Answered Prayer

“If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.” – John 15:7

Peace in the Storm

“I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” – John 16:33

New Life

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.” – 2 Corinthians 5:17

Robe of Righteousness

“and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith.” – Phil 3:9

Jesus knows all things and has given us all knowledge of His will, but we will only need the certain knowledge when He wants us to remember and do what He wants us to do.

I know when I am abiding and when I am not.

Praise the Lord, I have been drawing closer to Him and He is drawing closer to me. Not because of anything I have done, but because He called me to.

I was sad and worried and He changed my mind.

    I love the Lord!

I see the evidences in my life when I am abiding in Christ and the lack there of as evidence I’m off track. Without being leagalistic , what is the definition of abiding in Christ ?

Jesus The Christ means Jesus The Anointing Of God.

      when we abide in Christ?

We Are Abiding In The Anointing Of God
      Through His Son.

Think of what ‘Fruit’ Jesus is referring to.

It is Grapes of The Vine. – John 15:1

Jesus said, His Father Is The VineDresser.

God brought a Vine out of Egypt – Ps.80:8

As a Vineyard Is The Remnant 0f Israel – Jer.6:9

The Vineyard 0f The Lord 0f Host
    Is The House 0f Israel – Is.5:7

    – Is It Any wonder Jesus said
“I am The (TRUE) Vine? – John 15:1
    For Abiding In Him.
    And Not Israel.

Gives me an understanding about Rev.14:17-20

    The Vine 0f The Earth,
as when Her Grapes will be fully ripe
for The Great WinePress 0f The Wrath 0f God.
To be Trampled outside the City
and come up to The Horses’ Bridle. – Rev.14:17-20

For Jesus will Trample The WinePress of the
    fiereness & wrath of God.
When on His Horse and up to His Horses’ Bridle
His Robe will be Dipped In Blood. – Rev.19:13-15

What is the definition of abiding in Christ ? That my brother is the main question here. What is it and how?

First — What does the Word Say?

John 8:31 Then said Jesus to those Jews (Judeans) which believed on him, If you continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed, V.32 — And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

Expounding on the Word so we understand it more:
    “If” — It’s conditional
“ye” — you that have believed
“continue” = meno gk, abide, remain, continue,
“in my word”– He spoke God’s Word.
    “then”– and only then
    “disciples” — disciplined ones

“continue” = to remain, to live, to dwell, to lode, take up residency. The Word of God is the Word of Life(Philippians 2:16). To continue is to not leave the realm or sphere in which you find yourself. You eat it and sleep it and drink it. Meno means to persist, to endure, to maintain, to proceed or advance.

John 12:46 … should not abide(meno) in darkness… most choose to live,to abide, in darkness.

John 3:21 — “doeth truth” — To do the Word is to retain the Word, to continue in the Word, to remain in that sphere or state, like you in Christ is fellowship–ou’re in that state of fellowship.

    John 15:4
“abide” = meno–remain; hold it fast; continue in it
    “abide” = meno
“abide” – meno–The point is made three times: God wants us to stay in the Word,

John 15:5 Here’s your fruit concept:
    “abideth” = meno
    “I in him”– That’s fellowship.
“fruit”–quality in your life; your producing something

    John 15:6
    “abide” = meno
“he is cast forth as a branch”–It means a person’s life is worthless if he doesn’t abide in him, if he doesn’t retain with conviction.
You’ve got to stay licked in to God, to the household of the body that functions in your ministry. Stay alive, stay vital, stay tapped in–to the head, Christ. Stay tapped to the Word.

    And Finally:
    John 15:7
    “abide” = meno
    “abide” = meno
“ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you” — It’s a black check. If you fullfill the conditions, you get the abundance, the dividends. You get the proportionate blessings to your proportionate commitment. All commitment is, is descipline. Be a doer of the Word (James 1:22)

God Bless and Enjoy that Word of God
    Jim Schultz
“indeed” = in truth or truthfully

What is hard to understand about “continue”? Continue means continue. The reason the church is as lost and confused as the world is because they have been confused by having lost the mind of Christ to the new age perversions of the Word of God. We do not have a spirit of fear (brought about by confusion as to what is true), but of power (that rests in the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus), and of love (that is a fruit of growing and maturing in righteousness) and of a sound mind (that is exercised by accepting God’s invitation to come and reason with him in his Holy Word).

The KJV is simple, straight forward, undeniably true and having sustained the test of 400 years of holiness. There is no substitute for holiness in the Word of God.

Yes Continue means continue but sometimes we all need a clear understanding don’t we?

I’ll always teach on what the Word of God says, I don’t even care what I think, It’s what the Word says in important, and if someone can expound on the truth and make it LIVE better for them, take the oppertunity and speak that Word out of Love, don’t hold back for what you can give. Wouldn’t that be selfish, unless the Father said not to, for whatever reason.

        God Bless your the best,
