A Promise from the Bible Each Day

Posted on January 17, 2012 Posted by Blue Letter Bible

The Bible is replete with God’s promises. As His people, we are extremely grateful for this. And as many can attest, the promises of God, as revealed in His word, can be a source of God-exalting joy throughout life’s many seasons.

The staff of the Blue Letter Bible understands that the Christian benefits of such promises can be fruitful in daily study or meditation. Thus, we have compiled a list of 365 Biblical promises—one for each day of the year—and offer it on our “Today’s Promise from the Bible” page. We’ve also added a short note of commentary on each verse from the Blue Letter Bible staff.

Here is the promise for today:

“Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son [to be] the propitiation for our sins.” 1 John 4:10

Our love for God cannot save us, but His love for us can. It is because of His love that we are given His grace to enter the kingdom of heaven (Ephesians 2:8).

My Prayer: Thank you for Your endless love! It is only through your grace that I can be granted eternal life.

I’m currently reading R.C. Sproul’s book “Chosen By God” and it addresses the question “Can We Know that We are Saved?” in the 8th chapter. Very similar to your post regarding God’s promises. The assurance of salvation is based on God’s promises and His faithfullness; not our own. “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand. My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them outof My Father’s hand. (John 10:27-29).

I was just reading some of the writings from Octavius Winslow – From Grace to Glory, and I noticed he lays out a chapter on that subject of the “Assurance of Conversion”, which is connected to being born again and thus saved from the wrath of God due mankind because of sin.

Thank you for this feature on your website, BLB! I use it often, and am always blessed. God’s promises are just a snippet from His Word, but rich with meaning and always a reminder of Whom we serve, and why!

Lisa, bless you for being so honest. The enemy is always trying to divert our attentions away from the Lord. I always remember that “He who began a good work in me/you, is faithful to complete it.” Our duty is to humbly submit to the Lord each day. I will pray for you right now. Love, Debi C.

Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation or distress or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or perils, or sword?
As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.
Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors THROUGH HIM THAT LOVED US.
for I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor things to come,
Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Rom.35-39

we don’t have time to be distracted, cause we are working on something more important here.

John 15:9 As the father hath loved me so have I loved you continue in MY love

John 15:10 IF you keep MY commandments you shall abide in MY love even as I have kept MY fathers commandments and abide in HIS love

Ephesians 5:25-27 Husbands love your wives even as CHRIST also loved the church and gave HIMSELF for it (26) that HE might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word (27) that HE might present it to HIMSELF a glorious church not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing but that it should be holy and without blemish

2 Thessalonians 2:10 And with all deceiveableness of unrighteousnessin in them that perish because they received not
the love of the truth that they might be saved

Hebrews 10:36 For you have need of patience that after you have done the will of GOD you might receive the promise

    Loving the LORD
