Exciting Announcement | New Book Scanner & Resources (BLB in 2012)

Posted on January 12, 2012 Posted by Blue Letter Bible

Here at the Blue Letter Bible, our ministry team is constantly working around the clock to keep providing free Bible study tools for the Blue Letter Bible website. By the grace of God, we have been able to produce many new resources for you in 2011.

Images currently available

One of the big projects that we were able to move forward is the “Resources for Women’s Ministry” portion of our website which included reproductions of many lovely devotionals from the 19th century. Using a scanner, we were able to place many pages and images online for you. We’ve also been able to add more maps and Bible images to our image gallery.

New book scanner and, consequently, new resources

Because of equipment limitations, we could only scan small books or books that could easily be taken apart. However, our office library is full of other great books—old antique books which are high in demand but hard to come by. Many are first print 18th century editions that have never been republished. The books in this valuable “Antiquarian” section include the trusted works from: Charles Spurgeon, Thomas Watson, Richard Sibbes, D.L. Moody, William Tyndale, Andrew Murray, and many others. We have wanted to scan many of these works, but because of their size and/or fragility we could not scan them.

Coming soon to the Blue Letter Bible offices!

At the beginning of this new year, we received the first components for our new book scanner. This one is a full table-top scanner with a larger book platform. It utilizes point-and-shoot cameras with trusted image editing software. This means three things:

  1. We can begin scanning full books of virtually any size.
  2. The scanner also treats book covers very nicely, so the value of each book is not threatened.
  3. The software requires less manpower and allows us to cut the scanning time by over 50%.

We trust that these new resources will be a profitable addition to your Blue Letter Bible online  study and experience.

Thank you

We’d like to thank everyone who supports our ministry through prayer and finances. We are excited about the new opportunities that lie ahead because of your service and faithfulness.

God bless!

    Dear all,

God bless you! Thank you for this great opportunity to have easy access to great works. I am a woman and I know it is not easy to know how to be and do the right things, especially when one has had a bad foundation through not profitable experiences.
Thank you so much. It is time to work now. (Hsa4:6)

This is so great. God bless you all @ Blue Letter Bible. You’ll have been such a … amazing demonstration of the love of Christ. I use this site so often: I’m able to perform searches quickly for those verses I desperately need, and would fall without. To God alone be the glory, who has given us such a great book.

I agree with Henry. Thank you for sharing your love for Christ with us by making these resources available. What a tremendous resource. This site is a blessing to me and the girls that I do a Bible study with. May God be glorified in all we do.

I love that women’s devotional you are talking about. I was amazed when I first saw it because I didn’t realize it was actually the scanned book! I love those illustrations!

I look forward to more scanned books.

    Your friend,
    Debi C.

the word of God is vital in producing the spiritual man, and the history of the of the saints long ago testify to the vility of the almighty in the heart of man. In 1989 Holy Spirit called to large chunks of Bible Reading I read tho the word 12 times a year. and now 23 years later I relate to these spirital men of yesteryear, Jesus the same yesterday and forever. Now I use Audio BlueLetter to get God word into atmosphere of my home.

I really appreciate Blue Letter Bible as I have used it for years. I have trusted it to do research for three books and I intend to continue doing so. The constant upgrades that have made this site easier and easier to use give witness to the passion of the staff that make the Blue Letter Bible what it is. I look forward to what God may do through this ministry of love and service in the future.

Know this, that what you are doing matters in the Kingdom of God!

May the love of God increase and abound through you all,
    Dennis Bank

I was wondering if there was a way y’all could add a hebrew new testament font. It’s very hard to find one, and when I do find one it’s not interlinear, so I can’t look at the english at the same time.

I was truly blessed by this website. I am currently working as a nurse in a closed country where the Word of God was prohibited, even bringing bible or devotional books, or sharing God’s Word must be discreet. Thank God for the daily devotionals on this site. It’s comforting, encouraging and strengthening believers all over the world.
May God continue richly bless you.
