November 29, 2011 at 5:22 amThis morning, I sensed that the Lord was speaking to me about the importance of listening to Him and acting on what He said to me. I can only do that by abiding in Him. I finish my devotional and prayer time. Come to the computer and found you had already posted the exact scriptures that I had already studied. This blew me away!

November 29, 2011 at 5:35 amIt is good to be reminded that ” to abide ” is to daily pick up our cross and follow Him. So many at work who do not. And it shows in thier fruit. The path is narrow. Thankyou BLB

November 29, 2011 at 7:51 amA timely reminder that without abiding in Christ we are powerless. The last verse, John 15:5 sums it up beautifully: apart from Christ we can do nothing. It is good to remind ourselves that the focus must always be on Him. As Christians, we must point others to Jesus, and the only way that we can is if we abide in Him.

November 29, 2011 at 7:53 amThe words “abide” and “walk” cause me to think very deeply about my life; in my salvation; in the very thoughts of my heart and mind. I have been sitting here at my computer for 15 minutes, trying to articulate even to myself what this means to me.
Let’s just say I have come to the conclusion about my own self that this must mean that in the very same way that I perceive I am doing a lousy job at it, that means I must stop “doing the work” and allow the Holy Spirit to do the work in me so that I can abide in Jesus and I can walk as Jesus walked.
In the past year or so, my husband and I have started labeling ourselves “Followers of Jesus”. That’s the best we can do: just follow Him.
Sometimes this BLB blog, like today, can seem so simple to read, but it hits me upside the head and I have to ponder and chew on the words more thoroughly. I appreciate this ministry.
Much love, Debi

November 29, 2011 at 9:30 amI like the definition of “abiding” in my 1828 Noah Webster dictionary.
“dwelling, remaining, continuing; enduring; awaiting, fixed state, residence”.
Let us remain and live in Jesus, An immovable
residence. Our rock and our fortress!

November 29, 2011 at 9:57 amWow! Perhaps the reason we struggle so with showing compassion on family and others is we, at those times, refuse to abide in Him. We feel that leaning on our flesh and seeking its rights, comforts, and pleasures is somehow Ok with Jesus. This is a powerful deluding lie of the Wicked One.
If there is no compassion in our hearts toward those who do not deserve it, then we are simply refusing to abide in Christ. This grieves Him so…what do you think?

November 29, 2011 at 11:16 amOH yes, the fleshy old man. 🙁
Pray that the Holy Spirit is sealing our brains. Killing that old man as we walk.
Be still and listen.
NOTE TO SELF: LISTEN!
Put what we don’t understand on the shelf. It will make sense to us as Jesus abides in us and the Holy Spirit leads.
How oft do we open our Bibles to a verse and the answer is there and leads us even further in understanding? Opening this Blueletter Bible each day has produced many ah has!
I had to giggle one poster got an aha! in the shower. That is the Spirit moving. I get my ah has various ways including the warm soothing shower of cleansing water.
Jesus knows what we need so that we may abide in Him. He perfects our prayers. Pray without ceasing. Even if it is a simple “Jesus help!”
Abide with me. Abide in me. Be my all in all.
Praise God through all blessings flow.
We love you Jesus!

Abiding…
Who is the Israel of God?
Gal 6:16 And as many as walk according to this rule, peace [be] on them, and mercy, and upon the Israel of God.
We are. We have been grafted in.
There is a difference between the country of Israel and the Israel of God.
Truth be known many of us are in part by blood be of the tribes of Israel. The “Lost Tribes.”
I know at least one of my ancestors during the time of Christ was of the tribe of Dan. Which I found out is NOT a good thing. Dan is left out of the 14400. Cpnsider the path the Dan tribe passed up to the British Isles. Leaving its mark by the way. i.e. Danube. There are other deriviative spellings such as dun.
Surely I have ancestors of other tribes!
Be we gentiles or part tribes abide in Jesus. The restored and reconciled to Him.
Isa 49:6 And he said, It is a light thing that thou shouldest be my servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob, and to restore the preserved of Israel: I will also give thee for a light to the Gentiles, that thou mayest be my salvation unto the end of the earth. (speaking of Christ)
The GOOD NEWS for all is … whosover shall call upon the Lord shall be saved.
Blessed be you knocked on our doors!
Thank you Lord Jesus for saving me.
Praying:
Please through your Holy Spirit lead me in the path of righteousness which is the glory of the sanctification process. Blessed be thy name!

November 29, 2011 at 10:38 am700. Abide with Me
Text: Henry F. Lyte, 1793-1847
Music: W.H. Monk, 1823-1889
http://www.hymnsite.com/lyrics/umh700.sht
1. Abide with me; fast falls the eventide;
the darkness deepens; Lord, with me abide.
When other helpers fail and comforts flee,
Help of the helpless, O abide with me.
2. Swift to its close ebbs out life’s little day;
earth’s joys grow dim; its glories pass away;
change and decay in all around I see;
O thou who changest not, abide with me.
3. I need thy presence every passing hour.
What but thy grace can foil the tempter’s power?
Who, like thyself, my guide and stay can be?
Through cloud and sunshine, Lord, abide with me.
4. I fear no foe, with thee at hand to bless;
ills have no weight, and tears not bitterness.
Where is death’s sting? Where, grave, thy victory?
I triumph still, if thou abide with me.
5. Hold thou thy cross before my closing eyes;
shine through the gloom and point me to the skies.
Heaven’s morning breaks, and earth’s vain shadows flee;
in life, in death, O Lord, abide with me.

Christ Came To Set An Example (First Advent)
Jesus Christ kept His Father’s commandments. He lived an absolutely perfect, sin-free life, filled with God’s Holy Spirit without measure from birth (John 3:34).
He told His disciples: “If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in My love, even as I have kept My Father’s commandments, and abide in His love” (John 15: 10).
John wrote of Him: “He that saith, ‘I know Him,’ and keepeth not His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But whoso keepeth His word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in Him. He that saith he abideth in Him ought himself so to walk [live], even as He walked [lived]” (1 John 2:4-6).
This is one of the many Bible definitions of a Christian: “Live as Christ lived”—follow His example.
Paul wrote: “Be ye followers of me [Greek: “imitators”], even as I also am of Christ” (1 Corinthians 11: 1).
The example of Christ included His many sufferings, rejections, and persecutions. He promised His disciples: “If they have persecuted Me, they will persecute you,” and predicted, “Yea, the time cometh that they who kill you will think they do God a service.”
Following the example of Christ clearly meant more than living a good life. It meant suffering, if God so willed, the consequences of living that life—the rage, hatred, rejection, and persecution from others.
Peter wrote: “For this is thankworthy, if a man for conscience toward God endure grief, suffering wrongfully. For what glory is it, if, when ye be buffeted for your faults, ye take it patiently? but if, when ye do well, and suffer for it, ye take it patiently, this is acceptable with God. For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow His steps” (1 Peter 2:19-21).

November 29, 2011 at 5:29 pmAbiding in Him
We are to confess our sins *daily* to The Father in the name of the Son. Have Godly sorrow we do not abide perfectly with Jesus. We must work on sinning no more. Sanctification.
Will we ever be completely sinless in this fleshly body? Of course not. When we Abide in Him and He Abides in us we build up more and more acts of the fruit of the Spirit. We are more closely conformed to His thoughts.
GREAT NEWS
We are awarded full Sainthood (capital S) when we are directed to the rightside of Jesus in Heaven.
Why did Christ come to earth? (First Advent)
“So also Christ glorified not Himself to be made an High Priest; but He that said unto Him, ‘Thou art My Son, today have I begotten Thee. ‘As He saith also in another place, ‘Thou [Christ!] art a Priest forever after the order of Melchisedec. Who [Christ!] in the days of His flesh, when He had offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto Him that was able to save Him from death, and was heard in that He feared: Though He were a Son [Christ!], yet learned He obedience by the things which He suffered” (Hebrews 5:6-8).
Jesus Christ was ordained a High Priest “after the order of Melchisedec(k),” or according to the rank, or designated time of service, of Melchisedec.
Who was Melchisedec? He was the One of the Divine Family in heaven who appeared to Abraham (Genesis 14:18-20); the One who was to “empty Himself” (Philippians 2:5-8); Who was to be made flesh (John 1: 1-14), and to “tabernacle” among humankind. To Moses, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, He was “Yahweh,” or “Jehovah,” or “I AM.” Today, to you and me, He is “Jesus Christ,” or Jesus, Who is the Christ, or the Messiah, the Anointed One.
He is sitting at the right hand of God the Father in heaven as your daily High Priest.
Again, contrasting the human priesthood of Aaron and the Levites with the spiritual, eternal Priesthood of Melchisedec, Paul writes: “For it is evident that our Lord sprang out of Judah, of which tribe Moses spake nothing concerning priesthood. And it is yet far more evident: for that after the similitude of Melchisedec there ariseth another Priest, Who is made, not after the law of a carnal [physical] commandment, but after the power of an endless life. For He testifieth, ‘Thou art a Priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec”‘ (Hebrews 7:14-17).
A human priest could empathize with worshipers and supplicants to some degree, and was “compassed with infirmity,”
But Jesus Christ can actually feel our infirmities, for He suffered through them, was “tempted in every point” as we are!
“Seeing then that we have a great High Priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. For we have not an High Priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace [undeserved, unearned pardon!] to help in time of need” (Hebrews 4:14-16).
Jesus can really understands us. Better than we understand ourselves. He is the conduit to God the Father who perfects our prayers.
Jesus wept for us.
Thank you Lord Jesus.

November 29, 2011 at 8:31 pmThis is good stuff, abide meaning remain in the Christ. Something I could add to bless the readers, a lot of time in the Word of God when it mentions being “IN THE LORD”, or “being IN Christ” is that your in fellowship with him. What’s the opposite of being in fellowship? Out of fellowship. And when your IN fellowship, YOUR IN Christ, which in return your abiding IN Him and reaping the friut.
Cool a,
Now by knowing that, go read all the …in Christ, … in the Lord, that will blow your mind.
II Tim.2:15 the first word is study, and all this sharing will start to jell for ya.
In Christ,

John 1:1-18
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being. 4 In Him was life, and the life was the Light of men. 5 The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.

O soul, are you weary and troubled?
No light in the darkness you see?
There’s a light for a look at the Savior,
And life more abundant and free!
Turn your eyes upon Jesus,
Look full in His wonderful face,
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim,
In the light of His glory and grace.
Through death into life everlasting
He passed, and we follow Him there;
Over us sin no more hath dominion—
For more than conquerors we are!
Turn your eyes upon Jesus,
Look full in His wonderful face,
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim,
In the light of His glory and grace.
His Word shall not fail you—He promised;
Believe Him, and all will be well:
Then go to a world that is dying,
His perfect salvation to tell!
Turn your eyes upon Jesus,
Look full in His wonderful face,
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim,
In the light of His glory and grace.

BIBLE REFERENCE:
I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. Psalms 121:1
Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every
weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,
Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the
cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. Hebrews 12:1-2
But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from
glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord. 2 Corinthian 3:18
Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy
conversation and godliness, Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens
being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat? Nevertheless we, according to
his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness. 2 Peter 3:11-13
But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things
which God hath prepared for them that love him. 1 Corinthian 2:9
The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what
the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to
us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, Which he wrought in Christ, when he
raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, Far above all principality,
and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that
which is to come: And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the
church, Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all. Ephesians 1:18-23
