“And Stephen, full of grace and power, was doing great wonders and signs among the people.”
Acts 6:8
Those who are full of grace are…
- Responsive to grace. “When he arrived, he greatly helped those who through grace had believed” (Acts 18: 27).
- Built up by grace. “And now I commend you to God and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up and to give you the inheritance among all those who are sanctified” (Acts 20:32).
- Testify of grace. “But I do not account my life of any value nor as precious to myself, if only I may finish my course and the ministry that I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God” (Acts 20:24).
- Dependent upon grace. “But we believe that we will be saved through the grace of the Lord Jesus, just as they will” (Acts 15:11).
- Holy through grace. “nd with great power the apostles were giving their testimony to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and great grace was upon them all” (Acts 4:33).
- Continue in grace. “And after the meeting of the synagogue broke up, many Jews and devout converts to Judaism followed Paul and Barnabas, who, as they spoke with them, urged them to continue in the grace of God” (Acts 13:43).
- Evidenced by grace. “When he came and saw the grace of God, he was glad…” (Acts 11:23).
This has been adapted from the commentaries of F.E. Marsh, coming soon to the Blue Letter Bible. If you would like to help pray or contribute to this portion of the ministry, please contact us here.

January 30, 2012 at 9:39 amGrace and Mercy: Two great eternal book ends from God.
Grace is God giving to us that which we can never earn or merit.
Mercy is God withholding that which we most certainly and continually deserve. [ Safe in His Everlasting Arms. ]
We are, indeed, the eternal benefactors of such amazing love, hope, and Heavenly Family Help. As God’s beloved, sought after children, we will want to live lives of thankfulness, and holiness. Note: It is not the sinless heart, but the repentant heart that is the mark of one of God’s children. (Matthew 5)
If you have called upon the Lord Jesus to save you (Joel 2:32, John 1:12) from your sin, and your condemnable, hopeless condition (Romans 3:23, Psalm 53:3), then you are now a part of the Family of God (Ephesians 1:1-23, Romans 6:23). And He will never leave, disown, reject, or betray you. NEVER! (Deuteronomy 31:8, John 6:39)
Gratitude is thus our great and lasting response. Blessings to you this week!

January 30, 2012 at 9:54 amI have been studying DAY BY DAY GRACE on the Blue Letter Bible (on the side-bar on the right) for almost 2 years now. I never get tired of it. I never learn enough to stop learning.
Each day, God’s message of Grace says something to my life. It’s like filling up a bucket with water, but the bucket never gets filled. I want to be filled, to be able to say, “I get it! I got it! OK, let’s get on to the next thing!”
But God’s grace is more than a stepping stone in my relationship and life with the Lord. Grace is not just something you learn about, understand and then wait for the next lesson. God’s Grace is an amazing facet of the Spirit of God, to me. It requires a relationship with me. My job is to be empty, humble, submissive and totally dependent. And it isn’t simple. It keeps on getting deeper and deeper and usually difficult to understand and grasp.
I look forward to that day in the future when I can say, “Now I get it!”. Yet, as I type this I wonder, “Even when this body dies and my spirit is with God, will be able to say that? Hmmm…..”
Have a great day, everyone!

January 30, 2012 at 5:24 pmIan,
I’d like to share a little something with you, so I hope that you take it in the spirit that I am giving it. I’m sure you are intelligent, and God uses everyone to share their insights on Scripture. I appreciate that you took the time to write and that you want to give Christ all the glory and praise. However, your writing is a somewhat difficult to get through because of mixing upper and lower-case letters and using numerals instead of words when writing numbers. It is also important to use proper capitalization and to spell out words (“and,” not “&”). What is understood as proper in formal writing differs from that in texting. I hope this helps. I wish you well, and God bless you.

January 30, 2012 at 10:06 pmPaul was always greeting the brethren with “grace and peace.” And John of Patmos also, Re 1:4 “… to the seven churches which are in Asia: Grace be unto you, and peace, from him which is, and which was, and which is to come; and from the seven Spirits which are before his throne.” We have trouble coming from all directions, and the enemy of our souls wishes for us to be ill at ease and distraught. So it is good to follow the pattern of Paul and John in reminding one another to rest in His grace & peace.

January 31, 2012 at 2:24 amI generally appreciate the insight of the brethren on this page, and I pray that those of us who do us, will continue to do so in love, but to Ian, I fully agree with Barbara. I had a hard time following your thoughts, especially when you inserted the numerals.
God bless you, and I look forward to reading more of what you have to say.
