The following is adapted from the notes of F.E. Marsh, \u00a0<\/span>available at BLB<\/a>. Hebrews 9\u00a0<\/span>&\u00a0<\/span>10\u00a0<\/span>offer a number of reasons that Christ came for us. We\u2019ve already discussed some of them\u00a0<\/span>in part 1<\/a> and part 2<\/a>, but there are several reasons more. He also came to serve:<\/p>\n As the Exalted Man<\/strong> in glory.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cBut when Christ had offered for all time a single sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God\u201d Think about that one. Christ did not stay in the tomb to rot. Instead, He rose from the grave and ascended on high, confirming the reality of God\u2019s salvation. And just as Christ is risen, we are risen to new life in Him.<\/p>\n As the Expectant One,<\/strong> to triumph.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cwaiting from that time until his enemies should be made a footstool for his feet.\u201d One day, all of God\u2019s enemies\u2014Satan, sin, death\u2014will sit under His feet. He will triumph over them!<\/p>\n As the Perfecter<\/strong> of His people.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cFor by a single offering he has perfected for all time those who are being sanctified.\u201d This sanctification is of God\u2019s people\u2014His elect (1 Peter 1:2). Our standing is perfected in Christ as we are being sanctified into His likeness.<\/p>\n As the Fore-runner,<\/strong> to procure.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cTherefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the holy places by the blood of Jesus, by the new and living way that he opened for us through the curtain, that is, through his flesh\u201d Jesus inaugurated the coming of His kingdom and our entering into that place. We have a living hope in Him; it is not a hope that is dead.<\/p>\n As the High Priest,<\/strong> to represent.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cand since we have a great priest over the house of God\u201d Jesus is one who is at once King and \u201cPriest on His throne\u201d ( Zec 6:13 )\u2014a royal Priest, and a priestly King.
