Imagine, if you will, that you received a personally-addressed letter from Wisdom this morning. That’s right – Wisdom\u2014the personification of the wisdom of God.<\/p>\n
Here’s what the letter says:<\/p>\n
Dear (Your Name Here<\/span>),<\/p>\n To you, O men, I call, (from Proverbs 8)<\/p>\n Would you desire such a companion as this? How could you not?! Don’t neglect Wisdom. She is available in Jesus Christ (1 Cor 1:30; Eph 1:3). \nand my cry is to the children of man.
\nO simple ones, learn prudence;
\nO fools, learn sense.
\nHear, for I will speak noble things,
\nand from my lips will come what is right,
\nfor my mouth will utter truth;
\nwickedness is an abomination to my lips.
\nAll the words of my mouth are righteous;
\nthere is nothing twisted or crooked in them.
\nThey are all straight to him who understands,
\nand right to those who find knowledge.
\nTake my instruction instead of silver,
\nand knowledge rather than choice gold,
\nfor wisdom is better than jewels,
\nand all that you may desire cannot compare with her.
\n\u201cI, wisdom, dwell with prudence,
\nand I find knowledge and discretion.
\nThe fear of the LORD is hatred of evil.
\nPride and arrogance and the way of evil
\nand perverted speech I hate.
\nI have counsel and sound wisdom;
\nI have insight; I have strength.
\nBy me kings reign,
\nand rulers decree what is just;
\nby me princes rule,
\nand nobles, all who govern justly.fn
\nI love those who love me,
\nand those who seek me diligently find me.
\nRiches and honor are with me,
\nenduring wealth and righteousness.
\nMy fruit is better than gold, even fine gold,
\nand my yield than choice silver.
\nI walk in the way of righteousness,
\nin the paths of justice,
\ngranting an inheritance to those who love me,
\nand filling their treasuries.
\n\u201cThe LORD possessedfn me at the beginning of his work,fn
\nthe first of his acts of old.
\nAges ago I was set up,
\nat the first, before the beginning of the earth.
\nWhen there were no depths I was brought forth,
\nwhen there were no springs abounding with water.
\nBefore the mountains had been shaped,
\nbefore the hills, I was brought forth,
\nbefore he had made the earth with its fields,
\nor the first of the dust of the world.
\nWhen he established the heavens, I was there;
\nwhen he drew a circle on the face of the deep,
\nwhen he made firm the skies above,
\nwhen he establishedfn the fountains of the deep,
\nwhen he assigned to the sea its limit,
\nso that the waters might not transgress his command,
\nwhen he marked out the foundations of the earth,
\nthen I was beside him, like a master workman,
\nand I was daily hisfn delight,
\nrejoicing before him always,

\nand delighting in the children of man.
