Free Hymn of the Month from Getty Music
Getty Music is partnering with Blue Letter Bible to give you a free hymn of the month for the next 14 months, including free MP3 song downloads and sheet music! Visit our Free Hymn of the Month page each month, where you’ll also have access to song lyrics, videos, and the stories behind the hymns.
For anyone who is not familiar with the musical talents of Keith and Kristyn Getty, they are known for re-inventing the traditional hymn style, blending beautifully orchestrated contemporary music, and placing a strong emphasis on the truths of Scripture in their lyrics. You can visit the Getty Music website for more information.
On the first day of each month, we will rotate a new hymn on our site for you to download and share with friends. Our collective goal in this partnership is to promote sincere, Bible-centered worship in the hearts of God’s people all around the world.
Lyricist, Graham Kendrick, joined Keith and Kristyn Getty to compose the hymn “My Worth Is Not in What I Own.” A quote from John Stott gave inspiration for the theme of this hymn:
“Standing before the cross we simultaneously see our worth and unworthiness, since we perceive both the greatness of his [Jesus’] love in dying, and the greatness of our sin in causing him to die.” [The Cross p. 285]
As Christians, we must not let our culture dictate our human worth by measures of wealth, beauty or power; we need to view our worth from God’s perspective, which centers on the cross.
